Our Story
How It All Started
We were founded in 2013 with a simple but powerful idea: education creates opportunity. We set out to make English language learning more accessible for communities where quality language education can be difficult to access.
Our first project began in Nicaragua, where we built valuable experience delivering volunteer-led education programs. Over time, we expanded into Guatemala and Mexico, adapting our approach to local needs and building strong community partnerships.
Today, our focus is on sustainable, community-led growth. We continue to learn, improve, and develop programs that respond to the real needs of students and families and the community. We do this through a collaborative approach that values local leadership, long-term partnerships, and meaningful volunteer engagement, helping create opportunities that can continue to grow and thrive from within the community itself.

Our People
Pedro, Founder
After more than a decade of volunteering experience, Pedro founded One, Two… Tree! in 2013 following a trip to Nicaragua that strengthened his belief in the power of education, cultural exchange, and community-driven impact.
Pedro helped One, Two…Tree! grow from a small grassroots project into a long-standing community organisation that has supported thousands of students through English education across Central America.
Ania, Program Director
Ania oversees the management and development of One, Two… Tree! and it’s education projects.
Committed to accessible education and cross-cultural connection, Ania works to ensure that our programs respond to the real needs and expectations of the communities we work alongside, while creating meaningful and sustainable impacts for students and the broader community.
Candy, Project Coordinator
Candy is our main point of contact for our Guatemala project, supporting volunteers as they settle into the program and life on the ground, and coordinating the delivery of our English programs in Santiago Atitlán.
Passionate about education, volunteering, and human connection, she believes that One, Two… Tree! teaches not only English, but also the values of equality, respect, and working towards a better world.
Volunteers
Our education projects are delivered by an incredible community of international and local volunteers. They are the backbone of our work, and since 2013, we have had the privilege of hosting more than 500 volunteers across three countries.
Our volunteers contribute both inside and outside the classroom, and not only deliver English lessons and activities, but also contribute to community projects, and build meaningful connections with students and families.
