La temporada de lluvias est\u00e1 terminando y, mientras el sol brilla con fuerza y la bruma que envuelve el lago y los volcanes cercanos se disipa, las calles se llenan poco a poco con el zumbido de los tuk-tuks, los vendedores se preparan para otro d\u00eda ajetreado en el mercado y los ni\u00f1os se dirigen a la escuela. Nuestros voluntarios trabajan junto a los maestros locales para ayudar a los estudiantes a repasar lo aprendido, ganar confianza al hablar y celebrar sus logros.<\/p><p>Desde ense\u00f1ar canciones en ingl\u00e9s hasta planificar juegos de conversaci\u00f3n, los voluntarios comprueban de primera mano el gran inter\u00e9s que tienen los alumnos por comunicarse.<\/p><p>\u201cRecuerdo cuando uno de mis alumnos habl\u00f3 en ingl\u00e9s frente a toda la clase por primera vez. \u00a1Estaba muy sorprendido, pero tambi\u00e9n muy orgulloso!\u201d, comparti\u00f3 Ania, una de nuestras voluntarias habituales. \u201cMomentos como ese nos recuerdan por qu\u00e9 hacemos voluntariado en esta comunidad\u201d.\u201d<\/p><p>Nuestro programa se centra en la ense\u00f1anza del ingl\u00e9s en las zonas rurales de Guatemala, brindando a los ni\u00f1os de las escuelas p\u00fablicas oportunidades que pueden abrirles puertas en el futuro para estudiar, hacer turismo o encontrar empleo.<\/p><h2><strong>Octubre en Santiago Atitl\u00e1n<\/strong><\/h2><p>Octubre en Santiago tiene su propio ritmo. Es el final de la temporada de lluvias, que normalmente comienza a finales de abril o principios de mayo, y aunque las ma\u00f1anas son soleadas, por las tardes a\u00fan pueden caer chubascos que refrescan las calles. Los mercados rebosan de color, artesan\u00edas locales, ma\u00edz fresco y textiles tejidos a mano.<\/p><p>Para nuestros voluntarios, es un tiempo de reflexi\u00f3n y conexi\u00f3n. Tras semanas de docencia, han forjado s\u00f3lidas relaciones con estudiantes, familias anfitrionas y socios locales. Algunos colaboran con los proyectos finales en el Centro de Aprendizaje, mientras que otros preparan clases de ingl\u00e9s para grupos comunitarios y adultos.<\/p><p>La combinaci\u00f3n de ense\u00f1anza e inmersi\u00f3n convierte a Santiago en un lugar verdaderamente especial para hacer voluntariado en Guatemala. Nuestros voluntarios suelen comentar que aprenden tanto como ense\u00f1an y, sobre todo, aprenden sobre el valor y la importancia de la comunidad, de apoyarse mutuamente y de formar parte de algo m\u00e1s grande que ellos mismos.<\/p><h2><strong>El coraz\u00f3n de la experiencia: vivir y ser voluntario en la comunidad.<\/strong><\/h2><p>Todos nuestros voluntarios viven con familias anfitrionas, compartiendo comidas, historias y, a menudo, risas. Este intercambio cultural suele ser uno de los momentos m\u00e1s memorables de la experiencia.<\/p><p>\u201cMi anfitriona me ense\u00f1\u00f3 a preparar tamalitos de chipil\u00edn\u201d, dijo una voluntaria. \u201cHabl\u00e1bamos de nuestro d\u00eda, o al menos lo intent\u00e1bamos, \u00a1porque todav\u00eda estoy aprendiendo espa\u00f1ol! Pero, de alguna manera, nos entend\u00edamos perfectamente\u201d.\u201d<\/p><p>Estos momentos cotidianos, como caminar a clase pasando por el lago Atitl\u00e1n, charlar con los estudiantes en la calle o participar en las celebraciones locales, nos recuerdan que el voluntariado no es solo un servicio; es una conexi\u00f3n.<\/p><h3><strong>Por qu\u00e9 es importante el voluntariado<\/strong><\/h3><p>Los voluntarios son la clave de la misi\u00f3n de One, Two\u2026 Tree!.
